SPECIFICATIONS AND THEIR ROLE IN THE PROJECT
    11 a.m. - 12 p.m.| 1 ChioneEC hour (HSW)

Specifications are as important to the successful completion of a project as the design documents, however in many instances they are put together at the last minute as somewhat of an afterthought. The conversation in an office can sometimes be…… “Hey all, what are we forgetting?…..OH YEAH! The specifications…. Let’s use the same ones we had for the last project…..” This may sound flippant, however it's often true. Upon completion of this presentation, attendees will have a better understanding of the importance of specifications in the overall design and execution of construction pro.

    THE WELL BUILDING STANDARD

    2 - 3 p.m.| 1 ChioneEC hour (HSW)

The WELL Building Standard® (WELL) is a performance-based green building rating system that focuses on the health and wellness of building occupants. With increased awareness of how the built environment can protect and enhance human health, it is more important than ever that interior designers understand our role in the process. Designed to work in conjunction with other rating systems, including LEED, WELL delves further into the occupant experience. To obtain WELL Building Standard certification, a project must meet requirements within seven concepts: air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort and mind.

This session offers an overview of how WELL works and covers select features in more detail to provide further insight into the system. A holistic, wellness-centred approach to interior design will be shared to enable design practitioners to apply principles inherent to WELL into their daily work.
