New Representatives for Ontario's Interior Design Community

The Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) is pleased to announce the appointment of three new representatives to the Association’s Board of Management. ARIDO welcomes incoming association president, Sue Bennett of Bennett Design Associates Inc., Uxbridge, alongside two new directors on the occasion of the ARIDO Annual General Meeting, held March 28, 2012 at Toronto’s Allstream Centre.

A graduate of Fanshawe College School of Interior Design, Bennett brings to this position over two decades of experience in the industry and a distinguished reputation as a trailblazer for sustainable design. She has been an active member of ARIDO since 1989, a member of the ARIDO Executive Board since 2008, and a consistent and vocal ARIDO student advocate.

Her active involvement with the ARIDO Board comes at a time when the Association has refined its mission to be regulatory in scope. Bennett is poised to bring this transition to full fruition and with her four-years experience on the ARIDO Executive, she has a deep understanding of the important work that ARIDO does on behalf of its members.

“I am greatly honoured to be taking on the role of ARIDO President,” says Bennett. “I look forward to the commitment of continuing the momentum of ARIDO’s transition to that of a purely regulatory body, while supporting membership growth.”

Having successfully completed her term as association president, Eliisa Petersen of Petersen Design, Sudbury, assumes the role of past-president. Janine Grossmann of Hidi Rae Consulting Engineers Inc., Toronto, will hereby assume the role of president-elect.

As Alexandra Samouk of IBI group, Toronto, completes her term on the Board, Debra Dravis-Heming, Prism Partners Inc., Toronto, will enter the final year of her three-year term as a director, and Lucia Toffoli De Biasio, LDB Design Inc., Richmond Hill and Heidi Painchaud, B+H Architects, Toronto, will enter the second year of their three-year terms. Meanwhile, newly appointed members of the Board, Deanna Hayko of Stantec, Toronto, and Greg Quinn of X-Design Inc.,Toronto, will begin their three-year terms as directors.
